Becoming a certified diver is only the beginning of your scuba adventures. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course will help you to become a better diver, gain new skills and confidence.
Being an Advanced Open Water Diver has many rewards; anywhere in the world you travel, your dive guides will be more likely to take you to better dive spots and on more exciting dives than they would open water divers
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification
During the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course you will complete five Advanced Dives in two days.
This gives you the opportunity to learn new and exciting specialty areas of diving. Below are just a sample of the Advanced courses from which you can choose.
It is a rare diver who hasn’t felt the urge to dive deeper. As a general rule, divers are adventurous people, and diving deep is definitely a cool experience. During this training you will learn what special equipment and consideration must be taken to stay within safe recreational limits. Once your training is complete, you will be qualified to dive as deep as 100 feet.
Underwater Photography or Videography
The Underwater Photography or the Videography course will introduce you to the world of capturing digitally or on film, your dives and the marine life you encounter. You will learn about exposure, lighting, composition and maintenance. By choosing the Underwater Photography or Videography course, you will learn to create great photos or videos and share your underwater adventures.
As you slowly descend, a shape begins to form. First, you see a straight line, then a round window and next, the wreck materializes in front of you. Whether sunk intentionally or tragically, a ship, a plane or an automobile, the call of wrecks is nearly irresistible to divers. Whether your first or your hundredth dive on a wreck, you will sense the mystery and exhilaration of discovery. Through this course, you get the skills, knowledge and procedures you need to answer the siren call of wreck diving.
Be the diver everyone wants to follow and make your sense of direction legendary! Heading your dive in the right direction is an important aspect of any successful underwater experience. This comprehensive course unlocks the mysteries of underwater navigation. You learn to navigate via natural clues and your compass. You will also learn to estimate distance underwater and follow navigation patterns.
Enriched Air Diver*
Enriched Air diving means diving with higher levels of oxygen, which translates to longer dive times. You will learn how to analyze your tank, set your dive computer and the necessary parameters for safe diving with oxygen-enriched air. *(Additional fees apply to this course).
The Peek Performance Buoyancy Course
Peak Performance Buoyancy is the course to take if you want to quickly and expertly achieve neutral buoyancy. It’s a fact: buoyancy skills separate the good divers from the great divers. You will learn basic weight guidelines and several ways to control your buoyancy while underwater and on the surface.
Night Diver Specialty
You can dive the same spot during the day and again that night and have two totally different dive experiences. There is so much going on underwater when the sun goes down. Night divers learn to choose the right lights, master the skills of dive planning and night orientation. Ocean Adventures offers night boat dives, local shore dives and Catalina weekend night diving.
Project AWARE – Fish Identification Course
As part of this course you will identify and learn about a variety of species that you often encounter with in our Kelp forests and the Channel Islands. Your instructor will take you through the techniques for successful identification as well as showing you how to safely interact with marine life. If you are not already a steward of our oceans, you will be after learning how important divers are in conserving our aquatic environment.
After your five Advanced dives, you will be more confident and comfortable in the water and enjoy your dives more, simply because you will better understand and navigate the underwater environment.

- Ocean Adventures Dive Club membership.
- Students are required to have their own personal equipment: mask, fins, boots, gloves, snorkel, dive bag and a timing device.
* Rental of primary scuba gear (wet suit, regulator, BCD, weights, tank) is $50 for the 2 days training (Regular Price $50/day)

Specialty Training offers divers the opportunity to learn more about specific type of diving they choose based on their interest.
After completing the PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver program, you’ll want to continue your dive education. The PADI Rescue Diver certification is your next logical step. Challenging and rewarding best describes this course. It will expand your experience level.

Open Water Course Add-On $250:
On the second day of training, you will have up to two dives available that can be used for you to continue your diving education. These dives will make you a better diver and further refine your abilities.
When you sign up to continue your scuba education right after the Open Water Training, it will only cost you $250 instead of the regular price.
