Los Angeles County has way more to offer to locals and travelers than Hollywood bars, the Venice Beach side-walk or Malibu clubs. Southern California has a climate that not too many places have in the World, making diving a year-around activity for the enthusiasts. Although diving conditions are more challenging in California than in tropical waters, the reward of swimming trough giant kelp forests will compensate any diver for the cool water temperature.

 

Kelp Diving

Kelp grows in underwater "forests" (kelp forests) in clear, shallow oceans. It requires nutrient-rich water below about 20 °C (68 °F). It grows as fast as three feet a day, ultimately reaching a 100ft.

 

Live-aboard diving

An alternative to the floating hotel-like atmosphere of cruise ships, this type of cruising offers a more intimate communion with the ocean and its creatures.
