Swell after swell after...

All excited and no where to go. Swell after swell...
Sunday the 16th was one of those days that happen
once or twice a year. 5 to 8 foot swells rocked the
Encore and made the captian turn about.
We had 16 open water students, 4 rescue students, 2
advanced, 5 staff of OADC and 11 certified divers just
going for fun. Destination... Santa Barbara Island.
We had to cancell the trip and we were bummed out.
But...It happens once or twice a
year, mother nature just says "not today".
Due to the weather, all passengers recieve a rain check
for the December 14th trip to SB on the Encore.
Next Sea Lion Adventure Trip is Dec 14th...Limited on
tickets. So book ahead.

Every diver should know how to evaluate environmental
dive conditions. These are a couple of really cool sites
to help divers in pre-dive planning.

D.E.M.P. Course (like a mini EMT Course)...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is a rare event when a dive emergency is a single
event. More often than not, separate small problems
compound to create a larger problem.
Divers and dive professionals interested in
understanding first aid care for dive emergencies can
now take the Diving Emergency Management Provider
course from a DAN Instructor. This single program
integrates the knowledge and skills from several DAN
Training Programs into three week nights.
The Diving Emergency Management Provider course
includes:
Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba
Diving
Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
After reviewing the skills and knowledge development
portions of this program, the students then participate
in an integrated scenario where they get the
opportunity to bring together all of the skills they
learned in each of the segments into a single scenario.
To participate in this program, students must be
current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) providers.
Schedule
December 16, 17 and 18th 7pm to 9:30pm @ OADC
